I’m gonna be embarrassingly honest…I have never liked my legs. I see beautiful, slender legs around, sporting shorts and cute dresses and I am jealous. My legs are the kind that air on the fuller side and they’ve always bugged me. Bugged me to the point that I don’t wear shorts in the summertime or hardly ever wear dresses. Like seriously to the point that I didn’t own a pair of shorts. Even if I was sweating to death…capris were the choice. How sad is that and what a waste of energy and sweat!
Then something happened. I turned 40 and I decided I didn’t care anymore about how my legs looked. These legs have walked around Europe and Korea, all across the USA and Mexico and Canada too. They have walked me down the aisle to marry the man of my dreams. They have carried me through three pregnancies. They have welcomed many different groups of kids nervous to start Kinder and 1st grade. They have walked, jogged, biked, skipped, danced through the last 40 years. They have moved in and moved out. They have driven miles upon miles. They have seen things. They have been cut, scratched, burned, scarred, and even spider veined. Yet they work! They get me up and keep me going. They play and chase and goof. They help me love and serve and live.
So, whatever your body issue may be (because I know we all have them), let it go. Truly…LET IT GO!!! Don’t let it hold you back from fully enjoying the moments. Embrace your crazy hair. Love your spindly arms. Paint your wacky toes. Enjoy your extra large proboscis. Accept your small lips. Tickle that too flat or too squishy tummy. Show off those ears. Buy the shorts and get your beautiful legs out there….I am!
