Ok, here is a fun idea I thought I’d share.
As a teacher, I got all kinds of beautiful, sweet and wonderful gifts each year. Each one was so special and thoughtful, because the giver had put some thought into it. Gifts are gifts and come from the heart no matter what.
However, now that I am a parent, I want to know what might especially bless each of my kiddo’s teachers. Does she already have a gazillion mugs? Then I don’t want to give her any more! Is she allergic to chocolate? Then I don’t want to give her chocolate at every turn! Is she into crafty type stuff? Then I want to give her scrapbook paper or materials.
So last year I decided to try out this form. I gave one to each of the boys’ teachers. I had mixed results. One teacher didn’t feel comfortable filling it out, which I respect. The other teacher, however filled it out and I used it all year long when I was thinking of gifts. Perfect for teacher appreciation week or Christmas or end of the year gifts. Her favorite things were right there!!
I made copies and sent them home with each child. I added an anonymous note with each one saying it was from “another _ –grade parent”. That way the teacher didn’t have to feel awkward about it and the idea was still passed on, in case there were any other curious parents out there!
I didn’t even take the time to make it all cute and adorable. I am sure you will make yours much cuter than mine! Check it out!
